and thus, consequences have been earned
Nov. 10th, 2025 08:44 amWho: Konrad Curze and the Assistants
What: Immediately following the attack on Kaiisteron
When: Sometime after 'night', several days before the Story
Where: The Unfinished Library - Assistant's Office
Content warnings: To be added!
Most people who get into a fight will end up triggering the Safety Zone mechanism. But for a one-shot hit of this magnitude, capable of instantly killing the target, a different approach must be taken entirely.
Instead of the yacht that others - including Konrad - may have experienced for other damages or attacks, he will now find himself suddenly sitting in an uncomfortable chair in a book-filled office. He will find that his powers, all of them, have been abruptly dampened. Any attempt to use them will feel like the ability is just out of reach, and he will find his strength and energy feeling -- dulled. Konrad will find that if he tries to approach the desk, he will not make it more than one step away from the chair. No matter how fast he runs, or how far he reaches; the desk will remain the exact distance from him that it currently is.
The air smells of aged paper and - faintly - the smell of glue, emanating from a few carefully clamped annals nearby. A large book sits open on the pristine desk, and behind it - a young man, human in appearance, sitting straight-backed and rigid. He looks at Konrad with disapproval in his eyes.
(To the side, lingering just out of direct view, is a second young man. Again, human in appearance; but more relaxed than the guy behind the desk, and apparently content to stay out of the spotlight for now.)
"Good evening, Konrad." The man behind the desk says curtly. His voice is polished, his words precisely enunciated and crisp. Looking like he'd rather not, but beholden to his manners anyway, he flatly makes an offer of: "Tea?"
