for all the world's a stage - LIBRARY LOG

Who: The Editors
What: The Library changes once again...
When: January 9- January 22
Where: The Library
Content warnings: Please put them in the comment headers!

The Assistants have vanished into their backroom once again, leaving only the increasingly unbelievable “Back In 5” sign on the Help Desk, but at least they have attempted to impart some knowledge on the Editors before departing (or… attempted to do anything but, depending who you ask). The customary tea cart with drinks and increasingly stale biscuits is parked in its usual spot, though it seems that the quality of the tea at least has improved some. (Still waiting on coffee improvement.)

There’s a new crafting setup in the Maker Space, a table with an iron and machine for making vinyl designs, along with the instructions on how to use it, and a stack of t-shirts in various sizes. Usually there’s something in the correct size, but, well, mistakes happen. While this addition to clothing is a boon, there is the problem that the t-shirts can’t be taken out of the room until some sort of design is put on them. Get creative! Show off your style! Or maybe just steal one of the shirts that are there for display purposes. It’s fine, the Library can make more.

In the second week as the Library begins to change once more, the Lobby’s wooden floor shines with extra polish. The walls make an odd creaking sound as they shift, warping into brick covered with velvet drapings in a rich, dark red. Gold thread twinkles in the stitches, a sense of opulence woven through. The sound of ballroom music drifts by and, while in the Lobby, characters will be taken by the unusual impulse to dance.

Outside, in the Garden, the day/night cycle has paused firmly on a cloudless night. A full moon hangs in the air - literally. About the size of a basketball, it follows the first person who enters the Garden; hovering a couple of meters above their head. A white aura spreads from them, powered by the moon, and those who are caught in its light will find themselves unable to speak anything but the truth.

When the person to whom the moon is attached leaves the garden, the moon and its aura will leave them; and the moon will attach to the next person to enter instead.

On the circulation desk, there is a sign: “This Week’s Recommended Reading: Twilight!” The accompanying sign up sheet waits next to it for those wishing to check it out- though some will receive the movie instead of the book, with no particular rhyme or reason to it. Periodically someone might also receive something else entirely. Whoops? The Assistants at least will fix that quickly. Richard will be embarrassed, while Phillip will be trying not to cackle.

While not advertised, various iterations of different stories will be available throughout the Library. In particular, someone seems to have left the projector in one of the meeting rooms running, with a variety of different recorded plays. These range from professional productions, to parodies, to what appear to be high schoolers (of which one production features a sixteen year old version of Phillip running around being an absolutely nuisance.

Hisako sighs. She really wants to say no I got this go away but that's if anything more embarrassing when it's very clear she's lost control of the situation. "You know, yes, hands might work better. I don't exactly have one of those. All right."

She's got the art of the grasp, but it's not quite the same and works better if she can see what she's doing. "Regrettably, Stormwing magic doesn't apply in this situation unless I wanted to try blasting it." That seems like a bad idea in an enclosed space when she can't see.

Lucifer cheerfully helps along, working to be insanely gentle, because angels can be surprisingly fragile, but especially when flustered and embarrassed, so that's how he still is even after millennia.

"There," he beams satisfied with his own work. And spins around to show the wing holes in his jacket. "Admittedly, I'm unfamiliar with Stormwing magic." He assumes it's kind of like faerie, probably. Given the name. "But I assume, it's more attack-based or defensive in nature? Humans have a failed tendency to only make things easier for themselves, no matter who else they make life difficult for."

A quiet hum, "I am Lucifer Morningstar, as with your magic, I'm unfamiliar with your people's customs, but I greet you in the strongest way I can."

Hisako cooperates and keeps her wings folded tight so they don't get in the way. It wouldn't do to accidentally cut her, sigh, rescuer.

When she gets her head free, she's red-faced and her eyes look dull and unreflective, briefly, until she opens the clear inner eyelids she'd kept closed. She appears to be in her late thirties, with just a suggestion of lines across her brow.

"Ah. Thanks. ...It doesn't restrict how you move, then? That's some trick." It's kind of been a while but she does vaguely remember close-fitting clothes making it harder to raise her arms. Additional limbs seem like they'd compound the problem.

"Then I'll greet you the same. Hisako Godsup." Meaning 'godeater', but it's not a boastful name. "Stormwing magic has a bunch of applications that aren't all obviously related. It helps us fly, see things remotely, protect, attack... Not as versatile as the human Gift, unfortunately."

"It is quite a trick. I had a lot of help from my friend at the time, and my brothers Asmodeus and Leviathan, but Levi's wings don't often get in his way, Lord Diavolo also has four, and since I was still adjusting, he was the biggest help."

A frown though, "But this flimsy fabric..." maybe if they could figure out who among the people in the library had sewing skills? Lucifer doesn't really, since it's more like creation magic and almost computer design facilitated through faerie magic. Suffice to say, no.

"Excellent name." Listen, even if it's not meant to be a brag, the fallen angel who led a rebellion on God, definitely likes the vibes. "Tsk. I've never found humans to be that gifted at much." Side glance and folded arms. "Just populous." Why are they EVERYWHERE? "Still, that is quite the list. But even if you had magic for this kind of thing, it might not work here, as I've been discovering hour by hour." It's annoying. "There might be others who know more about it?" Humans. Probably.

Yeah, the fabric is... very strange to her. The weave is so fine and even, and yet it seems to be regarded as disposable.

"You and I have a different experience of humans," Hisako says lightly. Some Immortals have great disdain for mortals, but she still feels some connection to what she had been. She still thinks 'people' more than 'humans' or 'mortals', still can't paint them with too broad and flattening of a brush. Also, she'd had considerably more magic when she was human, something she's never quite able to forget.

She shakes her head briskly, trying to get her long tangled black hair into at least a less piled up condition. "I've not noticed many constraints on what I can do other than fly freely." Hisako makes a face. She can fly indoors or in the garden but both are more of a confined space than she likes. "But, I expect you have more magic than I."
